I am a quadriplegic businessman and I spend a good portion of each day working at my voice-activated computer. For the last several years I have been keenly aware of the need for a better way for disabled users to utilize a headset microphone than wearing it on the head or taping it to a makeshift gooseneck.
When a headset is put on for me I am able to keep the microphone accurately positioned for perhaps ten or fifteen minutes. If there is someone close by, I can ask for assistance in repositioning it. If not, my attempts to adjust it myself generally result in compounding the problem. Even if positioning were not a problem, I would still be "HARD WIRED" to the computer!...taping the headset to a series of short goosenecks works somewhat better but, even if the headband is removed and the microphone arm bent outward (precluding its use as a head-worn unit ever again), accurate positioning is both difficult and awkward.
Our new Adjustable Microphone Boom, designed SPECIFICALLY for microphone headsets, provides PRECISE, CUSTOM POSITIONING and an UNPRECEDENTED DEGREE OF INDEPENDENCE for disabled users. Although developed for individuals, it is also very practical for use in multi-user and training environments.
